📍 Location: Rwanda / Zambia

🎓 Education: Bachelor’s/Diploma in Shipping, Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field
About the Role
We are looking for a Commercial & Operations Coordinator with direct experience in the Shipping / Freight Forwarding industry to manage both commercial activities and day-to-day logistics operations across Rwanda/Zambia.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in shipping, freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation coordination and customer/commercial management.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage end-to-end shipping and freight forwarding operations for customers.
• Coordinate import/export shipments, customs clearance and transportation.
• Manage shipping documentation including commercial invoices, bills of lading, shipping documents, customs documentation and related records.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, clearing agents, transporters, customs authorities and customers.
• Prepare and negotiate freight rates, transportation rates, quotations and service agreements.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships and identify opportunities for new business and revenue growth.
• Monitor shipment movement, delivery timelines, customs clearance and operational performance.
• Resolve shipment, customs, transportation and customer-related issues.
• Coordinate cross-border shipments and ensure compliance with applicable customs and trade regulations.
• Prepare operational and commercial reports for management.
• Support process improvement, cost optimization and service-level improvement.
Requirements
• Minimum 3 years of direct experience in the Shipping / Freight Forwarding industry.
• Mandatory hands-on experience in freight forwarding and customs clearance.
• Experience handling import/export and international shipments.
• Experience coordinating with shipping lines, freight forwarders, clearing agents and transporters.
• Strong understanding of shipping documentation and customs procedures.
• Experience in freight/transport rate negotiation and commercial quotations.
• Customer relationship management and business development experience is preferred.
• Experience handling cross-border shipments within Africa will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of the Rwanda and/or Zambia shipping, freight forwarding and customs environment is preferred.
• Strong communication, negotiation, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s/Diploma in Shipping, Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
