How to Spot Job Scams Before You Apply
By Bonga Jobs
Protect your money and personal information with a few checks before responding to a vacancy.
Watch for money requestsA legitimate employer should not require a fee for an application, interview, guaranteed placement, training access, or a work permit arranged through an unknown person. Treat requests for mobile-money transfers, gift cards, or crypto payments as a serious warning.Verify the identityCompare the recruiter's email domain, phone number, office address, and vacancy with official company channels. Search for the organisation independently rather than using only links sent by the recruiter. Be cautious about urgent offers made without a meaningful interview.Protect your recordsDo not share passwords, PINs, one-time codes, or full banking details during recruitment. Share identity documents only when necessary, with a verified employer and a clear reason. Preserve messages and report suspected fraud to the relevant platform or authority.
