By Bonga Jobs
A focused cover letter can connect your experience to an employer's needs without repeating your CV.
Lead with the employer's needOpen by naming the role and the value you can bring. Show that you understand the organisation's work by referring to its product, customers, programme, or operating context. Avoid copying language from the vacancy without adding your own evidence.Choose two relevant examplesUse one or two short examples that match the job's essential requirements. Explain what you did, how you worked, and what changed. Examples from volunteering, internships, freelance work, or community projects can be useful when they demonstrate the required skill.Close with a clear next stepConfirm your interest, availability, and preferred contact method. Keep the letter to a page or less unless the employer requests a different format. Proofread names, dates, and the organisation's spelling before submitting.
